Personal Finance Suite

A local-first finance app for multi-entity, multi-currency tracking with encrypted backups.

The brief

Tracking personal, trading, and business money in one place is messy — especially across currencies (MGA, USD) and with broker exports in XLSX. I wanted a local-first app that kept the data on my machine and encrypted.

What I made

I built Personal Finance Suite with multi-entity tracking (personal / trading / business), multi-currency support (MGA, USD), budget alerts, encrypted backups, and XLSX broker import. The front end is React + TypeScript + Tailwind; the back end is Node/Express + SQLite.

Reflection

  • Local-first is a feature: your financial data stays on your machine, not in a SaaS silo.
  • Multi-currency and import support are what make a finance tool actually usable day-to-day.

Tech stack

  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind
  • Node
  • Express
  • SQLite

Results

  • One place for personal, trading, and business money with per-entity views.
  • Multi-currency (MGA, USD) and XLSX broker import remove manual data entry.
  • Encrypted backups keep financial data safe and local-first.
