multica

Root-caused a silent PATH collision and shipped the fix into a 42k+ star project.

The brief

multica is a multi-agent CLI with 42k+ stars. Users hit a silent-failure PATH collision between the packaged Electron binary and the Go CLI — the wrong binary ran, with no clear error. It was the kind of bug that's hard to reproduce and easy to dismiss.

What I made

I diagnosed the root cause of the PATH collision, filed it with a clear reproduction, and shipped the fix. I also authored the project-scoped working-directory feature request (14 upvotes), which maintainers later completed.

Reflection

  • Silent failures are the hardest to fix — a clear reproduction is half the battle.
  • A well-scoped feature request can shape a project's roadmap even when you don't build it yourself.

Tech stack

  • Go
  • Electron
  • CLI
  • multi-agent

Results

  • Fix merged next day into multica (42k+ stars).
  • Feature request (14 upvotes) later completed by maintainers.
  • Demonstrated root-cause diagnosis on a large, unfamiliar codebase.
